A Thinking Partner for Leaders Navigating Complexity
About Lampstand Associates
Creating space where leaders can see clearly and move forward with direction.
I didn’t come to this work through a straight path.
It grew out of questions.
Moments of uncertainty.
And the experience of not always having a place to step back and see clearly.
Through seasons of stepping back and asking what it really means to lead, to belong, and to be whole.
Along the way, I learned something that continues to shape my work:
Real change doesn’t happen through pressure. It happens in spaces that are honest, grounded, and safe enough for people to show up as they are.
That’s the kind of space I create.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Michaele D. Birdsall
My background is both analytical and relational.
I’m trained as a CPA and spent over 20 years in senior executive leadership, working at the intersection of strategy, finance, and organizational life.
I understand how decisions get made, how systems shape behavior, and how organizations gain—or lose—alignment over time.
At the same time, I was navigating my own questions—about faith, community, and what it means to live and lead with integrity. Through seasons of reflection and return, I came to see how much leaders need space to think. Especially when they’re carrying more than they can easily name.
Today, I serve as a thinking partner to leaders.
I don’t come in with quick answers.
I create space to think clearly, name what matters most, and move forward with direction.
Most leadership challenges live in the space between structure and human experience. That’s where I work.
Professional Credentials:

How I Work With Others
While I work closely with leaders as a thinking partner, I also collaborate with a trusted network of practitioners when the work calls for it.
Depending on your needs, that may include facilitators, artists, or other specialists who help create the right kind of space and support for your team.
Lampstand Meaning
A lampstand holds light so it can be seen more clearly.
That image shapes my work.
I don’t bring all the answers.
I help you see what’s already there—with more clarity.
Because often, the way forward is already present. It just needs the right space to come into view.
What I Believe
Organizations are shaped by people and relationships
Clarity comes not just from data, but from how people experience the work
Trust grows in spaces where people can speak honestly
Leaders need space not just to act—but to think
Because at their best, leaders are not just solving problems.
They are helping people feel seen, supported, and connected to what matters most.
How I Work
I don’t come in with answers.
I help you see more clearly.
I listen.
I ask questions.
I notice patterns.
I create space—not for performance, but for honest reflection..
From there, we decide what comes next.
Sometimes that looks like strategy. Sometimes it’s a hard conversation. Sometimes it’s simply slowing down long enough to hear what’s really needed.
Who I Work With
I work primarily with:
Executive directors and denominational leaders
Nonprofit and faith-based organizations
Boards navigating complexity and change
Leaders who need thoughtful, grounded support
If you’re carrying something complex and need space to think it through—
I’d be glad to connect.
Sometimes the way forward is closer than it feels.
It just takes the right space to see it.
